Sev1Tech’s General Manager of Sev1Civillian, Jessica Maloney, Featured as a Guest on the Women in Technology Podcast Episode Building Yourself from the Ground Up
Sev1Tech’s now general manager of Sev1Civillian discusses facing challenges as a leader in the IT industry and shares how she grew her career at Sev1Tech starting as a project coordinator to now running the civilian division.
WOODBRIDGE, Va., Feb. 14, 2023 — Sev1Tech, a leader in providing information technology, engineering, program management, C5ISR, and cybersecurity support services, is excited to share that Jessica Maloney, Sev1Tech’s now general manager of Sev1Civillian, was recently featured on the Women in Technology (WIT) podcast in an episode called Building Yourself from the Ground Up to discuss her growth as a female leader in the technology industry and how she found success by stepping out of her comfort zone.
In this episode, Jessica talks about how she started from zero and worked her way up to leading a team of IT professionals. After working through the challenges of becoming an effective leader, Maloney learned that delegating duties to people she sees potential in is something she values – especially when the challenge is taken on by a woman.
“I love giving women that opportunity where they’d normally be overlooked,” said Jessica. “…And when you gave them the opportunity, it’s like you unleashed something that was there all along.”
Upon joining Sev1Tech in 2012, Jessica had multiple mentors that she says propelled her to success in her role. Jessica mentioned that in the IT industry, it seems as if there is a constant radar placed upon women, and the female mentors she encountered helped her navigate through these challenges and influenced her immensely.
Since its start in 2021, the WIT podcast has featured women who work in STEM-related fields in leadership roles where they have been able to make an impact. WIT’s message of being a strong female leader in a field dominated by men embodies Sev1Tech’s core values of bringing diversity to the table.
Having Jessica speak on this podcast is a testament to her outstanding performance as a woman in the technology industry. Despite the challenges she faced, Maloney was still able to conquer and quickly make her presence in the company known after receiving the Rising Star award in her first year with the company, Employee of the Year and Project of the Year three times over.
